Bystričany

Bystričany ( Bistrizin German, Hungarian Besztercsény - to 1907 Bisztricsény ) is a village and municipality in Okres Prievidza in the region Trenčín in western Slovakia.

History

The first written mention of the town was 1388. 1921 was born here Anton Neuwirth. 1924 villages Chalmová and Vieska were incorporated, which today form parts of municipalities.

Geography

The municipality lies at an altitude of about 260 meters and covers an area of ​​37,607 km ², below the bird Mountains. The community part Chalmová is right on the river Nitra. The number of inhabitants is 1820 ( as of 2009).
