Cambrian Railways

The Cambrian Railways ( Cambridge ms ) was a British railway company which operated a railway network in Wiltshire in England and Wales. Office of the Company was Oswestry.

The company was established on July 25, 1864 by the merger of Oswestry, Elle More and Whitchurch Railway, the Oswestry and Newtown Railway, the Llanidloes and Newtown Railway and the Newtown and Machynlleth Railway. On 5 July 1865, the Company, the Aberystwith and Welsh Coast Railway took over. The Mid- Wales Railway, Vale of Rheidol Railway 1913, 1904 and 1921 was taken over the Tanat Valley Light Railway.

After the company was in the 1870s in financial difficulty, the incipient tourism allowed in the following decade to improve the economic situation. Villages that do not lay on the railway line were approached in 1906 with Omnibus.

Under the Railways Act 1921, the Cambrian Railways of the Great Western Railway was slammed.

1921 handed the route network of the company Wrexham and Whitchurch in the north, through Oswestry, Welshpool, Montgomery to Newtown. A Streckenast from there east to the Irish Sea. Along the coast, the route of the former Aberystwith and Welsh Coast Railway Aberystwyth according to Pwllheli. The second Streckenast leads south over Llanidloes and Builth Wells to Brecon.
