Canon EOS 70D

The EOS 70D is a digital SLR camera from the family of Canon EOS digital cameras. It was presented on 2 July 2013, and has been available since the end of August 2013. The semi-professional segment to classify camera is the successor to the 2010 featured Canon EOS 60D.

In addition to the quantitative improvement of several parameters and the adoption of some features ( WiFi, Digic 5 ) from other segments characterized this DSLR mainly by their new autofocus control during video recording. For this purpose, each CMOS pixel is divided in the central screen area into two subunits that share responsibility for recording the image, however, be read for the auto focus separately. Since the respective left " half pixels " only the light registered, which passes through the left half of the lens, and the right half pixels equivalent to the light from the right lens half, the camera can use by separately reading out the individual photodiodes a sensor-based phase autofocus. This process should make together with some equipped with a stepping motor STM lenses an automatic soft focus tracking and preventing the otherwise occurring during focusing DSLRs in live view " pump effect ".

The EOS 70D is as an individual case and in two kits with the optimized for focusing when shooting video lenses EF -S 18 -55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS STM and EF-S 18-135 mm f/3.5-5.6 IS STM available.
