Canton of Chantelle
Chantelle is a canton of the arrondissement of Moulins in Allier in the Auvergne region of France. It comprises 15 municipalities, the capital is Chantelle. Representatives in the conseil général of the department since 2004 André Bidaud.
History
The canton was founded on March 4, 1790 with the establishment of the departments as part of the then " district Gannat ". With the establishment of the arrondissements on 17 February 1800 the canton was associated with the new district Gannat and re-cut. On September 10, 1926, the arrondissement Gannat was dissolved. The canton was allocated to the Moulins district.
Geography
The canton is bordered to the north by the District of Le Montet, in the east to the Canton Saint- Pourçain- sur -Sioule, in the southeast and south by the cantons and Escurolles Gannat in Vichy Arrondissement, in the southwest and west by the canton in the Arrondissement Ébreuil Montlucon and to the northwest by the Canton Montmarault, also in the arrondissement of Montlucon.
