Canton of Chevagnes
Chevagnes is a canton of the arrondissement of Moulins in Allier in the Auvergne region of France. It comprises ten municipalities, the capital is Chevagnes. Representatives in the conseil général of the department since 1982, Jean -Marie Potin.
History
The canton was founded on March 4, 1790 with the establishment of the departments as part of the then " district Moulins ". With the establishment of the arrondissements on 17 February 1800 the canton was associated with the new district Moulins and re-cut.
Geography
The canton is bordered to the north by the Canton of Fours in Arrondissement Château- Chinon in the department of Nièvre ( Bourgogne), in the northeast to the Canton Bourbon -Lancy in the Arrondissement Charolles in the department of Saône -et -Loire (Burgundy), to the southeast by the Canton Dompierre- sur- Besbre, on the southwest by the Canton of Neuilly- le -Real, on the west by the Canton Yzeure and to the northwest by the Canton of Moulins- Ouest.
