Canton of Commentry
Commentry is a canton of the arrondissement in Montlucon Allier in the Auvergne region of France. It includes four municipalities, the capital is Commentry. Representatives in the conseil général of the department since 2001 Claude Riboulet.
History
The canton was founded on March 4, 1790 with the establishment of the departments as part of the then " district Montmarault ". With the establishment of the arrondissements on February 17, 1800, the district Montmarault was dissolved and associated with the new district of the Canton of Montlucon and re-cut.

Geography
The canton is bounded on the east by the Canton Montmarault, to the south by the Canton Marcillat -en- Combraille, on the west by the Canton Montlucon -Est and to the northwest and north by the Canton Montlucon -Nord -Est.
