Carlo Curis
Carlo Curis ( born November 2, 1923 in La Maddalena, Province of Olbia- Tempio, Italy) is a Roman Catholic archbishop and was a diplomat of the Holy See.
Life
Carlo Curis received on 13 July 1947, the sacrament of Holy Orders and was incardinated in the clergy of the diocese Ampurias e Tempio.
Curis entered the diplomatic service of the Holy See. In 1956, he was Deputy Secretary in the Section for Relations with States of the Vatican Secretariat of State. Carlo Curis 1957 nunciature counselor at the Apostolic Nunciature in Uruguay. Pope Pius XII. gave him on 16 August 1957 papal honorary title of supernumerary secret chamberlain of His Holiness. 1963 Curis Uditore was at the Apostolic Nunciature in India and in 1966 he was nunciature counselor in the same Apostolic Nunciature. Carlo Curis joined in 1967 as the Apostolic Nunciature to the Uditore in the United States. Pope Paul VI. awarded him in 1968 the honorary title of chaplain of His Holiness ( Monsignor ). In 1969, Curis nunciature counselor at the Apostolic Nunciature in Italy. Pope Paul VI. conferred him on January 21, 1970 the title of Honorary Prelate of His Holiness.
On July 14, 1971 Pope Paul VI appointed him. Titular Archbishop of Medeli and appointed him as Apostolic Delegate in Sri Lanka. He received his episcopal consecration Cardinal Secretary of State Jean -Marie Villot on 3 October of the same year; Co-consecrators were the Officer in the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples, Archbishop Curia Duraisamy Simon Lourdusamy, and the Bishop of Ampurias e Tempio, Carlo Urru. On 10 February 1976, Carlo Curis Apostolic Pro-Nuncio in Sri Lanka. Paul VI. appointed him on 30 March 1978 to the Apostolic Pro-Nuncio in Nigeria. On February 4, 1984, Pope John Paul II appointed Apostolic Pro-Nuncio in Cyprus and apostolic delegate in the Palestinian territories. Carlo Curis was appointed on 28 March 1990 as Apostolic Pro- Nuncio to Canada. On September 1, 1994, he was Apostolic Nuncio to Canada.
February 4, 1999, Pope John Paul II accepted the argument put forward by Carlo Curis reasons of age resignation from the office of Apostolic Nuncio to Canada.
