Carlos Carvalhal

Carlos Augusto Soares da Costa Faria Carvalhal shortly Carlos Carvalhal ( born December 4, 1965 in Braga ) is a former Portuguese footballer, who played as a central defender and most recently was coach at Istanbul Büyükşehir Belediyespor.

Playing career

Born in Braga 1965 Carlos Carvalhal played at the beginning of his career in his hometown at SC Braga. Another stop was the FC Porto for which he played one year. Overall Carvahal completed 259 games and scored a goal.

Coaching career

Carvalhal began his coaching career at SC Espinho in the second league, but was discharged after one and a half years. He moved to the chair of coach Belenenses Lisbon. After five defeats in eight games in 2006, the association already separated from him again. Further, short stations followed as a coach. In August 2011 Carvahal moved to Turkey for Beşiktaş Istanbul. On 2 April, Beşiktaş separated from Carvalhal.

Already the new season, he returned to the Turkish Süper Lig and was introduced as the new coach of Istanbul Büyükşehir Belediyespor. He thus replaced the old coach Arif Erdem. After a disappointing course of the season he declared after 11 Matchday his resignation. A few days after this resignation, he was replaced by Turkish coach Bulent Korkmaz.
