Carlos Francisco Martins Pinheiro

Carlos Francisco Martins Pinheiro (* May 30, 1925 in Vila Praia de Ancora, Portugal, † June 4, 2010 ibid ) was Auxiliary Bishop of Braga.

Life

After visiting the Seminário de Nossa Senhora da Conceição in Braga he began in 1947 to study philosophy and theology at the Catholic Seminário Conciliar de Braga and was also the director of Cenáculo, the newspaper of the seminar. After his ordination on July 8, 1951 he was prefect and professor and economist of Philosophy of Braga. 1953 he was appointed Coadjutor of the parish Ponte de Lima and chaplain of the hospital Santa Casa da Misericordia and the Colégio D. Maria Pia was appointed. The following year, he became a pastor of Ponte de Lima and the port of Feitosa e Arca, before he became archpriest of 1958 Julgado eclesiástico of Ponte de Lima, and then head of the canons of Sé Primaz to Braga. On February 22, 1985, Pope John Paul II appointed titular bishop of Dumium and appointed him as Auxiliary Bishop of Braga. He received his episcopal consecration Archbishop Eurico Dias Nogueira on 28 April of the same year; Co-consecrators were Júlio Tavares Rebimbas, Archbishop of Porto, and Armindo Lopes Coelho, Bishop of Viana do Castelo. He was president of the Diocesan Commission for Ecclesiastical Art and works as well as archpriest of Vila do Conde, Póvoa de Varzim, Esposende, Barcelos and Vila Verde. He was also a member of the Episcopal Comissão Mista Bispos - Religiosos.

On 10 November 2000 John Paul II took his on the grounds of age pre- mounted resignation.
