Catherine O'Hara

Catherine Anne O'Hara ( born March 4, 1954 in Toronto, Ontario ) is an American actress, screenwriter and singer-songwriter of Irish- Canadian descent. O'Hara, among other Emmy -winning actress.

Life and career

Catherine O'Hara comes from a large family. She made her debut in the television movie The rim shots from the year 1976. Between 1976 and 1977 she played alongside Dan Aykroyd and John Candy in the television series Coming Up Rosie.

O'Hara wrote 1981-1982 screenplays for the comedy series SCTV Network 90, for which she was nominated together with the other authors in 1982 and 1983 for the Emmy and 1982 Moral Majority show received an Emmy Award for the script of the episode. In the thriller comedy After Hours (1985 ) she played alongside Rosanna Arquette and Linda Fiorentino; in the comedy Heartburn (1986 ), she appeared opposite Meryl Streep and Jack Nicholson. In the comedies Kevin - Home Alone (1990) and Kevin - Alone in New York ( 1992), she played the role of Kate McCallister, the mother of Kevin McCallister, the Macaulay Culkin embodied.

For her performance in the television series The Outer Limits - The unknown dimension O'Hara was nominated in 1998 for the Gemini Award. For the lead role in the action film The Life Before This (1999), in which she starred with Joe Pantoliano, she won the 2000 Genie Award. For their roles in the comedies Best in Show (2000 ) and A Mighty Wind (2003) she was nominated for a Golden Satellite Award. She won in 2001 for the role in Best in Show American Comedy Award and a Canadian Comedy Award. The role in the film A Mighty Wind earned her the 2003 Seattle Film Critics Award and the 2004 Florida Film Critics Circle Award. Having already played a role in Beetlejuice and a synchronous role in The Nightmare Before Christmas Tim Burton, O'Hara came back again in 2012 as a voice for a Tim Burton film. She spoke in the feature film version of Burton's cult short film Frankenweenie Susan Frankenstien, Edgar, gym teacher, Mrs. Epstien and the Weird girl.

O'Hara was at times a member of the music group Northern Lights. They also composed songs that she sang together with her sister Mary Margaret O'Hara in the TV show The Last Polka ( 1985).

O'Hara is married to production designer Bo Welch since 1992 and has two sons.
