Charles Smith (basketball, born 1975)

Charles Cornelius Smith ( born August 22, 1975 in Fort Worth, Texas ) is an American professional basketball player. His positions are those of the Shooting Guards Small Forwards or. He currently plays for Virtus Roma in the Italian basketball league. Its main strength is the distance throws.

Career

Charles Smith began his career at the University of New Mexico, with whom he played three seasons in the NCAA. In the NBA Draft in 1997 elected him Miami Heat from the first round (No. 26), but traded him mid- season following the season against Brent Barry, from the Los Angeles Clippers. In California, he stayed one more season, and in 1999 finally in the CBA to Rockford Lightning.

In 2000, Charles Smith finally decided to move to Europe, where he became the second best scorer of the Italian League with Snaidero Udine. Then he returned to the NBA, where he the Portland Trail Blazers played a season with the San Antonio Spurs as well. In 2003 it went, after a brief stopover at the Greek club Makedonikos, back to Italy, where he played for Virtus Bologna and Scavolini Pesaro, especially in the latter he drew attention to himself by strong performances and won the Alphonso Ford Trophy for the best scorer of the ULEB euro League 2004/05. The Portland Trail Blazers took him while in 2005 returns to the squad, but were trading him during the season to the Denver Nuggets. In the latter he played only one game before it abroad again, this time for Turkish club Efes Pilsen Istanbul, pulled him. In the summer of 2006 it undertook Real Madrid, with whom he promptly won the ULEB Cup and was voted MVP of the Finals. On 19 June 2008, he again received a contract with Efes Pilsen Istanbul. In the 2008 /09 season with the Turks, he managed to win the championship of the Cup and the President's Cup. In the summer of 2010, Smith joined the Lega Basket Serie A Virtus Roma.
