Charpey

Charpey is a commune in the Drôme department in the Rhône -Alpes.

Geography

Charpey lies in the wide, fertile plains of the mouth of the river Isère in the Rhone, at the foot of the Vercors Mountains. The community is located about 12 km south of Bourg -de- Péage and almost 16 km east of Valence (in straight line ). The 15.48 km ² large municipality mainly comprises fertile agricultural land, south of the main settlement are to be found some forest areas. The village is very picturesque and well preserved.

Population

Charpey heard with 1274 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) to the mid-sized communities in the department of Drôme. 1962, the population was still 601 Since then the number has risen constantly. From all in the 1970s, 80s and 90s, and the population rose to relatively strong.
