Jaillans

Jaillans is a commune in the north of the department of Drôme in the Rhône -Alpes.

Geography

Jaillans is on the left side of the river of Isere, about 10 km southeast of Bourg -de- Péage and almost 25 kilometers east of Valence (in straight line ). The municipality with the main settlement in the center has an area of 9.04 square kilometers and is nestled between the Vercors Mountains in the east, a large wooded area to the west and to the north of the Isère.

Population Development

With 876 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) Jaillans belongs to the small to medium sized municipalities in the department of Drôme. At a count in the late 17th century, 350 residents were counted. 1962, when the first detected by INSEE census, 369 inhabitants lived in Jaillans. By 1982, this number has remained more or less constant. Since then, a relatively strong population growth was recorded, which is mainly due to the high migration rate.
