Eymeux

Eymeux is a commune in the Drôme department in the Rhône -Alpes.

Geography

The settlement area of Eymeux is located on the left bank of the Isère, 192 meters above sea level. The municipality is located almost 10 kilometers east of Romans- sur -Isere, and about 27 km northeast of Valence (in straight line ). Directly on the opposite side of the river is the village of La Baudière, which belongs to the municipality of Saint -Lattier in the department of Isère.

History

The Church exists in its present form only since 1974, when the former municipality Hostun -et- Eymeux was dissolved and so Eymeux and Hostun emerged.

Demographics

Eymeux has 1047 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011). 1962, the population was still 440, then the number dropped to 411 in 1975. This development came about through a negative migration balance. For the past 30 years, the population is, however, rise again on. Reasons for this are occurring immigration, especially in 1970s, and the increased birth rate, which was recorded mainly in the 80s and in the 90s.
