Chess Federation of Armenia

The Armenian Chess Federation Hajastani schachmatajin Federazian (Armenian Հայաստանի շախմատային ֆեդերացիան ) is the national umbrella organization for chess players in Armenia. It was founded in 1927 and is a member of the World Chess Federation FIDE since 1992. He is a member of the company founded in 1990 and recorded in the IOC 1993 National Olympic Committee of Armenia. The Association is based, the Armenian capital, Yerevan.

Since 2004, Serzh Sargsyan, the current President of Armenia, Chairman of the Armenian Chess Federation, honorary president of the university teachers Wanik Sakarjan, vice president of the chess grandmaster Smbat Lputjan.

History

The Armenian Chess Federation was founded in 1927. Since 1934 national chess championships are held which were ten times derived from inter alia Genrich Gasparjan and three times by Tigran Petrosyan.

Opened in 1970, named after Tigran Petrosian Chess House of Armenia. Shortly thereafter, the first time the magazine Chess appeared in Armenia (Armenian Շախմատային Հայաստան ).

After the independence of Armenia from the Soviet Union, the Association was established in 1992 Member of the World Chess Federation FIDE.

2002 Chess Academy of Armenia was founded.

Achievements

International successes recorded the Armenian Chess Federation, especially since Armenia's independence in 1991. According bronze medals at the Chess Olympiads in 1992, 2002 and 2004, the Armenian team in 2006 and 2008 won the gold medal.

For participation at the World Team Championships in 1997, 2001 and 2005 Armenia reached third place respectively. 2011 Armenia won the World Team Championship and remained undefeated as a team. 1999 Armenia was in the men and women at the 2003 European champion. The European Club Cup European Club Cup tournament the men was won in 1995 by Yerevan and the Ladies 2006 of Mika club.

Armenia was also host to several international chess tournaments, including the Chess Olympiad 1996.
