Chilly (Haute-Savoie)

Chilly is a commune in the French department of Haute- Savoie department in the Rhône-Alpes region.

Geography

Chilly is on 483 m above sea level. M., above Frangy, about 17 km northwest of the town of Annecy (air line). The farming village stands on a plateau south of the valley of Usses, in the hill country between the ravines of Usses and Fier at the northern foot of the Cret de Charmont.

The area of ​​18.58 km ² municipal area includes a portion of the Genevois. The northern border is always in the field of Talniederung of Usses, a left side of the Rhône River. From the mostly forested valley floor, the municipality's area extends southwards across the plateau of Chilly, which is subdivided by various short Seitentälchen of Usses. History

The village was first mentioned in the early 15th century. The place name is from the old French word Chaillou (pebble, flat stone ) is derived. Chilly in 1860 the newly created Canton Frangy allocated; previously it belonged to the canton Seyssel.

Population
