Chinandega Department
Chinandega is a department in the extreme west of Nicaragua.
The capital is the city of Chinandega Chinandega. The department has an area of 4926 km ² and a total population of around 450,000 inhabitants ( 2006 calculation ) what / corresponds to a population density of about 91 inhabitants km ².
Chinandega is dominated by agriculture - main production is rum from sugar cane, and bananas and peanuts.
