Chlumčany (Louny District)

Chlumčany ( German Klum Chan, also Kluntschan, Chlumtschan ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic. It is located four kilometers southeast of the center of Louny and belongs to Okres Louny.

Geography

Chlumčany is located at the northern foot of the mountain country Džbán the creek Smolnický creek. To the north of the Maly Chlum ( 283 m) and the Blšanský Chlum rise (273 m). Chlumčany is on the railway route Prague -Most, which travels around the village in a loop to the south, west and north. West tangent to the main road I / 7 of Louny by Slany the place.

History

The first written mention of the village was in 1316, when the Vladike Viktor von Chlumčany occurred at the regional court as a witness. Since 1354 allows the Church of Sts. Kliment prove. The village was divided since the Middle Ages into several parts, which belonged to different masters and later came to the rule Cítoliby. On the south side of the Maly Chlum wine has been cultivated since the 14th century. Maybe consisted in Chlumčany a fortress, but it made ​​no firm evidence. Since the mid-18th century the population grew steadily. 1770 the old church was demolished and started in on it with a baroque building. 1787 was the village of 27 houses. In 1797 acquired Jakob Wimmer of Wimmer mountain domination Cítoliby. 1802 bought the Princely House of Schwarzenberg goods. Subsequently, the standstill in viticulture was resumed. After the abolition of patrimonial Chlumčany / Chlumczan formed in 1850 a municipality in the district Louny. 1858, the Prince of Schwarzenberg a sugar factory. In 1872 the railway from Chlumčany was inaugurated by Most. In the following year the route was completed on Slany to Prague. The property belonged to the land reform of 1924 Dominion of the princes of Schwarzenberg. Since 1961 Vlčí is a district of Chlumčany.

Chlumčany is today the only place in Okres Louny, is operated in the wine. In Chlumčany the wine cellar is home songs.
