Chmielowice, Opole Voivodeship

Chmiellowitz, Polish Chmielowice, is a town in Poland, in Upper Silesia in the community Comprachtschütz in powiat Opolski in the Opole Voivodeship.

History

In the plebiscite in Upper Silesia on March 20, 1921 146 voters voted to remain in Germany and 27 for Poland. Chmiellowitz remained with the German Reich. 1933 lived 530 inhabitants in the village. On March 8, 1934, the town was renamed in Hopfental. 1939, the place had 727 inhabitants. By 1945, the place was in the district of Opole.

In 1945 the previously German place under Polish administration and renamed Chmielowice and joined the Silesian Voivodeship. In 1950, the city came to Opole Voivodeship. In 1999 the place to re-founded powiat Opolski. On 1 December 2009, the City also received the official German place names Chmiellowitz.
