Wawelno

Bowallno, Polish Wawelno (until 2001: Wąwelno; Silesian: Bowalno ) is a town in Poland in the community Comprachtschütz ( Komprachcice ) in the powiat Opolski in the Opole Voivodeship.

History

Bowallno first recorded in 1300. 1890 lived in the village of 729 inhabitants, in 1910 there were 841 inhabitants.

In the referendum on March 20, 1921 648 voters voted to remain in Germany and 61 for Poland. Bowallno remained with the German Reich. 1933 lived 1,139 residents in the town. 1936, the city was renamed in Walldorf. 1939, the place had 1,166 inhabitants. By 1945, the place was in the district of Opole.

In 1945 the previously German place under Polish administration and renamed Wąwelno and joined the Silesian Voivodeship. In 1950, the city came to Opole Voivodeship. In 1999 the place to re-founded powiat Opolski. Since 2009 Bowallno is officially bilingual (Polish and German ).
