Christen Andreas Fonnesbech

Christian Andreas Fonnesbech (* July 7, 1817 in Copenhagen, † May 17, 1880 ) was a Danish statesman.

Life

As the son of a rich merchant, he renounced after he had passed well to the age of 23, the legal office exams, on a civil service career, was landowner and had himself elected in 1858 in the Reichstag.

In the former battle the National Liberals with the peasant friends Fonnesbech stood in the series of so-called Independents, where he gained real influence. When Count Frijs - Frijsenborg 1865 his ministry was formed, Fonnesbech took over the portfolio of the Minister of Finance in the same and sparked sent the difficult tasks of this position.

In 1870, he received the portfolio of the Ministry of Home Affairs in the Ministry Ludvig Holstein -Holstein Borg. He promoted in this position several nonprofit laws and things to do. But when he himself in 1874 formed a ministry, he showed himself able, and especially the opposition of the Left in the Folketing no match and was forced to resign in 1875. He died May 17, 1880 an incurable disease.
