Knud Kristensen

Knud Kristensen ( born October 26, 1880 in Hover at Ringkøbing, † September 28, 1962 in Humlebæk / Fredensborg Kommune ) was a Danish politician of the liberal Venstre.

Life

During the German occupation of Denmark Kristensen was July 8, 1940 to November 9, 1942 the Danish Minister of the Interior. This office he held even after liberation from 5 May 1945 to 7 November 1945. Then he rose to become prime minister. This office he held until November 13, 1947.

Kristensen sat down after the German defeat support the integration of South Schleswig into the Danish federation. The British military governor of Schleswig -Holstein Hugh Vivian Champion de Crespigny granted Kristensen's performances for South Schleswig clearly rejected. Parts of the Danish press attributed the failure to the annoyance Crespignies back on to independent policy of the German administration in Schleswig -Holstein. The government Kristensen crashed on 4 October 1947, a processor connected to the South Schleswig - question -confidence motion in Parliament. After further political differences, especially in protest against the constitutional reform of 1953, he left the party Venstre and founded De Uafhængige, whose chairman he remained until 1956.
