Peter Georg Bang

Peter Georg Bang ( born October 7, 1797 in Roskilde, † April 2, 1861 ) was a Danish lawyer, politician and minister.

The son of Roskilde cathedral dean Jacob Bang and Anna Cathrine Sophie Hansen enrolled in 1813 as a student at the Frederiksborg school, became a lawyer in 1816 and 1820 doctorate. In the years 1830-1836 he held a teaching position as professor of Roman law at the University of Copenhagen and from 1836 to 1845 he was director of the National Bank.

Bang was a royal commissioner at the provincial national assembly in Roskilde and Viborg. In 1848 he was appointed Minister of the Interior. This office he sided with interruptions, until 1856. From 1851 to 1852 he served as Minister of Culture and on December 12, 1854 he was appointed the Danish king as prime minister. As of 16 October 1855, he was awarded the title Konsilspräsident instead of the term prime minister. Bang so that was the last Danish Prime Minister with the title of Prime Minister. Peter Bang remained until October 18, 1856 in office.

After his death in 1868 Peter Bangs Vej the (previously Klammerivej ) named after him in Frederiksberg.
