Christian Democratic Movement

The Christian- Democratic Movement ( Slo. Kresťanskodemokratické hnutie, KDH) is a Slovak party.

It is one of the right-wing parties and occurs as such in particular a conservative and Christian values ​​. In the 2006 elections they got 8.31% of votes and was able to move with 14 mandates as an opposition party in the parliament. She has achieved in the parliamentary elections in 2010 8.54 % of the vote, or 15 seats in the new parliament.

KDH emphasizes the role of the Church in the history of Slovakia and criticizes the values ​​of political liberalism. She stands clearly against abortion and the equality of homosexual partnerships. At the same time it reacts negatively to the proposals of Liberals and Social Democrats to separate the church from the state. One of the main successes of the KDH policy in religious matters since the 1998 elections include the equitable funding of church schools to government schools, the adoption of a bilateral international treaty basis between Slovakia and the Vatican and the founding of the Catholic University in Ružomberok. 2004, the optional religious instruction was starting with the first class introduced in all primary schools.

In matters of economic policy emphasizing liberal in nature, although it bills itself as a party with a social economy program. Both the former minister and the parliament of KDH supports all major economic reforms the government Dzurinda, including tax reform, health care reform and the reform of the pension system.
