Cologne Falcons

The Cologne Falcons are an American football team from Cologne. From 1994 to the end of 2011 the team at the club ASC Cologne Falcons was located eV. With effect from 1 January 2012 changed the entire American football department for the AFC Köln eV Henceforth called the AFC Team Cologne Falcons and reached under this name promotion to the first division. Season was due to trademark disputes eV with the former club chairman of the AFC Cologne at the beginning of the GFL 2013 changed the logo and name of the Falcons. The team is now running back to the original name "Cologne Falcons ".

History

In 1994 were founded by former members of the Red Barons Cologne, the Cologne Falcons. First, in the fifth division play began in 2002, the steep climb out of the league up to the highest German league, the German Football League. There the Falcons experienced in the 2005 season, a start -to-measure, with three wins in a row. At the end you missed then but just the play-offs and had to be content with fifth place. In the 2006 season, the Falcons reached the fourth place in the table and went for the first time in the play-offs, but failed there in the quarterfinals with 0:62 on Südmeister Marburg Mercenaries. The 2007 season ended with a renewed fifth place in the North table. In the 2008 season, the Falcons last of the group were North and had in the play-offs, where they met the Assindia Cardinals from food. Although regarded as a favorite, lost both games the Falcons ( 17:24 and 23:28 ) and got into the GFL 2 Nord.

2009 A1 youth of Cologne Falcons was German vice-champion under head coach David Odenthal. In the same year the men's team was runner-up the GFL 2 Group North. However, in 2010, the men's team was unable to repeat this performance and finished the season in sixth place in the northern group. Only in 2012, the Falcons managed the re-emergence in the GFL in the relegation against the Lübeck Cougars. After a weak season with only 2 wins the team in the fall of 2013 had in the play-offs against the Bielefeld Bulldogs. There, the team secured in just two games in the league.
