Connexxion

Connexxion is a Dutch transport company that acts as a provider of transport services in local public transport. In addition, Connexxion is also in the taxi and coach services and operates several ambulances.

The result is Connexxion in May 1999 by the merger of several local and state transport authorities. On 30 June 2007, 66 percent of the shares were sold to the French Connexxion Transdev, the remaining shares remain for another five years under the Dutch administration. The annual turnover of Connexxion has 945 million euros. The company has about 13,500 employees.

Investments

Connexxion is the 100% owner of the company Hermes, the bus services in the regions of Eindhoven and Helmond operates. Since January 2007, the municipal transport company GVU include Utrecht and Arnhem and Nijmegen Novio completely Connexxion. The company also owned a third of the shares in the transport operation Syntus. These were sold in September 2007 to the NS and the French company Keolis who've been co-owner at Syntus.

Furthermore hydrofoils operate the Fast Flying Ferries between Amsterdam and Velsen.

Connexxion also operates a fully automated people mover park shuttle between the Rotterdam metro station Kralingse zoom and the business park Rivium in Capelle aan den IJssel. This transport is, however, due to various problems has long been out of service.

With Helinet there is also a project for a network of liner services with helicopters.
