Conny Waßmuth
Conny Waßmuth ( born April 13, 1983 in Halle ( Saale), GDR ) is a German canoeist. The athlete of the KC Potsdam 2008 Olympic champion in four-man kayak.
Conny Waßmuth began at Halle Canoe Club 54 with the Canoeing and moved in 1994 to the Sports School to Magdeburg and joined the SC Magdeburg. She took in 1999 as a youth at the Junior World Championships and won silver in the quad. In 2001 she became junior vice- world champion in one - and four-man kayak. In 2005, she succeeded for the first time made it into the senior team. You could win a place in the quad and was in this boat world and European champion. 2006 once the boat both times second place. 2007 secured the team with Waßmuth again the European and World Championship titles.
In 2008, she initially failed to qualify for the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, sat down by the fight for the position as a replacement driver but against Marina Schuck. One day before the start of the Olympic canoe racing competitions, she was re-nominated by the German Canoe Federation for the quad after the originally planned Carolin Leonhardt failed to illness. In this discipline, she won on August 22 along with Fanny Fischer, Nicole Reinhardt and Katrin Wagner -Augustin the gold medal.
The Canoe Racing Championships 2009 in Brandenburg an der Havel, they also won the gold medal in the same team before Hungary and Russia. The Canoe Racing World Championships 2009 in Dartmouth Waßmuth won double gold. Once in the kayak four over 200 m with Carolin Leonhardt, Katrin Wagner -Augustin and Tina Dietze and in the relay in one kayak over 4 x 200 m with Fanny Fischer, Nicole Reinhardt and Katrin Wagner -Augustin.
In 2010 Waßmuth won at the Canoe Sprint World Championships in Poznan 2010 again with the 4 x 200 m relay in one kayak gold along with Nicole Reinhardt, Katrin Wagner and Tina Dietze -Augustin.
Conny is Waßmuth Sports soldier of sports promotion group of the Bundeswehr. She had previously received a degree in sports science at the University of Potsdam. At the end of the 2012 season Waßmuth moved to KC Potsdam, where the German Canoe Association focused women - four.
