Coro Coro Municipality

The municipality Coro Coro is a district in the department of La Paz in the South American Andes State of Bolivia.

Location in near space

The municipality Coro Coro is one of eight Municipalities of the province Pacajes and located in the northeastern part of the province. It is bordered on the southwest by the municipality of Calacoto, on the south by the municipality of Callapa, on the east by the province and flavor to the municipality Waldo Ballivián, on the north by the municipality of Comanche, and on the northwest by the municipality of Caquiaviri.

The municipality covers 116 localities ( Localidades ), the administrative seat of the municipality is Coro with 1,884 inhabitants ( 2001 census ) in the central part of the county.

Geography

The municipality Coro is located on an average altitude of 4000 m south of Lake Titicaca on the Bolivian Altiplano between the Andes mountain ranges of the Cordillera Occidental and the Cordillera Central in the west to the east.

The region has a pronounced diurnal climate where the temperatures fluctuate more during the day than during the year. The mean annual temperature of the region is located at 7 ° C (see climate chart ), the monthly average temperatures vary only slightly between about 4 ° C in July and a good 8 ° C in December. The annual precipitation is 500 mm, the monthly rainfall range from less than 10 mm from May to August and from 100 to 125 mm in January and February.

The population of the municipality of Coro Coro has increased by about a quarter over the past two decades:

The municipality had at the last census of 2001 a population density of 10.5 inhabitants / km ², the life expectancy of newborns was 61.7 years, and the infant mortality rate was 8.2 percent (1992 ) to 6.6 percent in 2001 decreased.

The literacy rate for those over 19 years is 83.8 percent, and 94.9 percent, although in men and 72.7 percent for women ( 2001).

77.9 percent of the population speak Spanish, 86.4 percent speak Aymara, Quechua and 0.6 percent. (2001)

82.5 percent of the population have no access to electricity, 80.9 percent have no sanitary facilities ( 2001).

68.1 percent of the total 3,641 households owned a radio, a television 9.6 percent, 31.6 percent, a bicycle, a motorcycle 0.8 percent, 2.1 percent, a car, a refrigerator 1.0 percent and 0.3 percent a telephone. (2001)
