Cromdale

Cromdale (Gaelic: Cromdhail or Crombail ) is a Scottish village in the unitary authority of Highland. By 1890, it was part of the traditional county of Inverness -shire, 1890-1975 to the county Morayshire. Cromdale situated near the River Spey about five kilometers east of Grantown -on-Spey and 25 km southeast of Aberlour. The village developed at the beginning of the 19th century on the slopes of the Cromdale Hills. In 1690, the decisive battle of Cromdale took place near the present-day Cromdale.

Between 1863 and 1965, had Cromdale a train station, which was attended among others by the Great North of Scotland Railway. Cromdale lies in the significant Whisky Speyside. Since 1824, the Balmenach Distillery produces whiskey in Cromdale.
