Czarnków

Czarnków [ ʧarnkuf ] ( German Czarnikau 1940-1945 Scharnikau ) is the county seat of powiat Czamkowsko - Trzcianecki ( circle Czarnikau - Schönlanke ) and a rural community in Poland. It lies in the northern part of the Greater Poland Voivodeship, south of Pila ( Pila ) on the networks.

History

Czarnków was founded in the 10th or 11th century. 1108, the city was connected to Poland. 1244 to 1407 he was a seat of a castellan. The city was chartered the place in 1369th From the 13th century until the first half of the 17th century Czarnków was in possession of the noble family of Nałęcz belonging noble family Czarnkowski. Therefore, the city has still the same coat of arms as the noble family Nałęcz. 1647 a Catholic parish school was opened.

1772, there was the city with the Netzedistrict to Prussia. It belonged until 1920 to the German Reich. Czarnikau was county town for the county Czarnikau in the province of Posen.
