Dalixia Fernández

Dalixia Fernandez Grasset (born 26 November 1977, in Guantánamo ) is a former Cuban beach volleyball player. She participated in three Olympic Games.

Career

Fernandez Grasset played her first Open tournaments in 2000 with Tamara Larrea Peraza. In the Olympic tournament in Sydney, the Cubans fought for a clear defeat against the Brazilian silver medalist still the last sixteen and there were subject to U.S. Americans Davis / Jordan. In 2001 she came with many FIVB tournaments in the top ten. At the World Championships in Klagenfurt they reached the second round without dropping a set, which she lost to Wood / Bragado from the USA. The Goodwill Games in Brisbane, they finished in eighth place. From late 2001 to 2002 Fernandez Grasset played with Yoselin Roque Palacios and was thrice ninth in open tournaments.

In 2003, she was reunited with Larrea Peraza and finished in Rhodes equal fourth place. At the World Cup in Rio de Janeiro, the reunited duo failed in the first round of the later bronze medal winners Cook / Sanderson from Australia. The second Olympic participation of the two Cubans ended in 2004 in Athens in the second round against the Canadians Dumont / Martin. In Berlin, where they had already reached the final of the Grand Slam in 2004, she missed at the World Championship in 2005 by losing to the Chinese pair Tian Jia / Wang Fei barely a medal.

2007 Gstaad they lost in the World Cup preliminary round including against their national rivals Ribalta / Crespo and occupied after the second round defeat to the U.S. women Branagh / Youngs ninth place. Exactly the same result, there was a year later in the Olympic tournament in Beijing. After her third Olympic participation Larrea Peraza ended her international career. Fernandez Grasset graduated in 2009 with a few more tournaments Ribalta. At the World Championships in Stavanger, the Cuban duo defeated in the first round in three sets the Brazilians Ana Paula / Shelda.

After her retirement from active sports in 2010 she was working as a beach volleyball referee.
