Daouda Sow

Daouda Sow ( born January 19, 1983 in Roubaix ) is a French boxer. He won the silver medal in the lightweight at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing.

Career

Amateur

Daouda Sow was born the son of West African immigrants in Roubaix. At the age of 15 he began in Hem, where his family had meanwhile moved the Boxing Club Hemois with the boxes. His coach was Abdelhakim Zehrir. Although he grew up relatively quickly, he was always very slim and could start in the low weight classes. In 1999 and 2000 he won the French junior champion at flyweight and bantamweight (up to 51 kg and 54 kg body weight).

In 2001 biw 2003 he devoted himself mainly to his professional training and went shorter with the boxes. In 2004, he was at a height of 1.75 m in the bantamweight ( up to 54 kg body weight) French vice champion when he defeated the experienced Ali Hallab in the finals by points ( 15:37 ).

Daouda Sow again in 2005 French was runner-up in the lightweight ( up to 60 kg body weight). He lost the final against Khedafi Djekhir by demolition in the 3rd round. But in the same year, he convinced two countries in fighting. In Sannois clear he defeated in a meet against Cuba Idel Torri duck on points and in Lingolsheim he suggested in an international match against Germany Arthur Schmidt (Boxer) also by points ( 25:15 ). In 2006 Daouda Sow worked as an educator in a home for the reintegration difficult trainable teenager and had barely time to boxing. 2007 was remembered, however, at the French box dressing on the great talent Daouda Sow and promoted him accordingly. This meant that he with a victory over the veteran Dagnoko Boubacar became French champion in the lightweight first time in 2007. In the first qualifying tournament in Pescara him not yet succeeded in this, because he lost at lightweight after beating Alejandor Rodriguez from Spain and Alexandros Kirsanidis from Greece against Alexander Kljutschko from Ukraine ( 10:21 ), by which he came on the 5th place which was not sufficient to qualify.

He started then in April 2008 in Athens last qualification tournament there and managed to qualify to the tournament victory. On the way, he beat Ljubomir Marjanovis from Serbia, Arthur Schmidt and Koba Pschakadse from Georgia. Against Georgian Piopescu from Romania he won without a fight.

In June 2008, Daouda Sow launched in the French national team, in Havana in a meet against the Cuban world champion from 2005 Yordenis Ugas, where he was defeated narrowly on points.

At the Olympic Games in Beijing, he was like all the French boxer well prepared at the start. In the lightweight he defeated in his first fight the North Koreans Kim Song - Guk, who had after all won the bronze medal in Chicago convincingly on points ( 13:3 ), he defeated Jose Pedraza of Puerto Rico by points ( 13:9 ).
