Holston itself was at 27.7 points per game in the season 2008 / 09, the second best player in this category throughout the Division I and with 450 successful three-point throws in his college career the second best player ever in the history of Division I. These records helped Holston and the otherwise unnoticed college team to media attention and made Holston, according to his coach to the face of the basketball program of this university. Despite invitations to training camps of clubs in the NBA as the Chicago Bulls, this was not sufficient to give Holston, which is approximately 20 to 25 cm less in height than the average professional players on his playing position, a professional contract in the NBA.
