David LaChapelle

David LaChapelle ( born March 11, 1963) in Connecticut ) is an American photographer and director.

Life

LaChapelle studied at the Art Student's League and the School of Visual Arts. His first position was enabling him by Andy Warhol, he worked for the magazine Interview magazine in the 80s as a photographer.

LaChapelle has won numerous awards for his work: 12 Annual MVPA Award for " Video of the Year ," MTV Europe Music Award for "Best Video", Art Director's Club Award for "Best Book Design".

He photographed many celebrities (singers, models, artists / indoor, etc.) such as Mariah Carey, Naomi Campbell, Eminem, Courtney Love, Lil 'Kim, Britney Spears, Tom Jones, David Beckham, Whitney Houston, Madonna, Keith Richards, Fleetwood Mac and Cecily Brown. In addition, he has directed several music videos; among others, Christina Aguilera, Britney Spears, Jennifer Lopez, No Doubt, Avril Lavigne, Moby, Elton John, The Dandy Warhols and Florence the Machine.

In 2005 his first documentary " Rize " appeared on an urban dance culture, a kind of " Ghetto Ballet " from the black neighborhoods of Los Angeles. In preparation he had introduced at the 2004 Sundance Film Festival short film " Krumped " whose material is partially included in Rize.

David LaChapelle lives openly homosexual and received in 2006 the Vito Russo Award.
