David P. Richardson (New York politician)

David Plunket Richardson ( born May 28, 1833 in Macedon, Wayne County, New York, † June 21, 1904 in Angelica, New York ) was an American politician. Between 1879 and 1883 he represented the State of New York in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

David Richardson attended the public schools of his home. In 1856 he graduated from Yale College. After a subsequent law studies in Rochester and his 1859 was admitted as a lawyer, he began to work in this profession. Since 1861, he served during the Civil War for over three years in the army of the Union. From 1866 he lived in the village of Angelica in Allegany County.

Politically, Richardson joined the Republican Party. In the congressional elections of 1878, he became the 29th electoral district of New York in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he became the successor of John N. Hungerford on March 4, 1879. After a re-election he was able to complete in Congress until March 3, 1883 two legislative sessions.

In 1882, Richardson gave up another Congress candidate. After the end of his time in the U.S. House of Representatives, he practiced as a lawyer again. He died on 21 June 1904 in Angelica, where he was also buried.
