David Rabinowitch

David Rabinowitch ( born March 6, 1943 in Toronto, Ontario ) is a Canadian- German sculptor and draftsman.

Life and work

David Rabinowitch was born in 1943 in Ontario Canada, the son of an architect and a philosopher. His twin brother is the sculptor Royden Rabinowitch. Early on, he began to engage in philosophy. Spinoza's Ethics, he read with eight, and sixteen Kant's Critique of Pure Reason. His philosophical interests with flowed into his art.

Rabinowitch studied from 1963 to 1966 natural sciences and English literature at the University of Western Ontario, is engaged in the same time as painting. The first solo exhibition took place in 1968. In 1972 he moved to New York and had from 1974 to 1975 a lecturer at Yale University. Since 1984 he has worked as a professor of sculpture at the National Art Academy Dusseldorf.

Since 1968 represents Rabinowitch work of solid sheet metal manufactures and works directly on the ground.
