Davide Santon (born 2 January 1991 Porto Maggiore (FE) ) is an Italian footballer who is since 2011 at Newcastle United in the English Premier League under contract. He is a qualified right-back, but can also act as a left-back.

Career

In the club

Davide Santon comes from the youth department of Inter Milan. During his time in the youth teams Santon also had offers English top clubs such as Chelsea FC or Manchester United. His debut for the first team of Inter he gave on January 21, 2009 in the Coppa Italia, as he was used over the full season against AS Roma. On 26 January 2009 Santon played its first match in Serie A, the highest Italian league, against Sampdoria. In January 2009, Santon extended his contract with Inter Milan until 2013.

Davide Santon was initially planned as a substitute Maicon on the right side, but acquiesced after a period of weakness of ordinary defender Maxwell as a matter of course to the left and was particularly impressed by its calm and serenity. He eventually was promoted in the 2008 / 09 season, becoming an integral part of the team and crowd favorite and won with Inter its first Italian championship. On 31 March 2009 Santon made ​​his debut for the Italian U- 21 team against the Netherlands.

Due to his strong performances at Inter Milan Santon was appointed on 4 June 2009 by coach Marcello Lippi in the squad for the FIFA Confederations Cup 2009 in South Africa. On June 6, 2009, he came under Lippi in the 3-0 win against Northern Ireland on his debut in the senior team and stood over the full distance of 90 minutes on the court. In the 1-1 draw against Romania on 17 November 2010, he was under Cesare Prandelli making a comeback.
