Debbie Flintoff-King

Debbie Flintoff -King ( born Debra Lee Flintoff, born April 20, 1960 in Melbourne) is an Australian hurdler who had specialized in the 400 - meter track, and Olympic gold medalist.

In the Commonwealth Games 1982 in Brisbane, she won gold, and at the World Athletics Championships 1983, she reached the semifinals.

In 1984 she was at the Olympics in Los Angeles Sixth. In 1986 she defended her title at the Commonwealth Games in Edinburgh and also won the 400m gold, and in 1987 she won silver at the World Championships in Rome.

She celebrated her biggest success at the 1988 Seoul Olympics. With Olympic record they won ahead Tazzjana Ljadouskaja (URS ) and Ellen Fiedler ( GDR). After a silver medal at the 1990 Commonwealth Games in Auckland, she ended her international career in sport.

As a member of the Australian relay race she won in the 4 x 400 meters relay at the Commonwealth Games two silver medals (1982, 1990) and one bronze (1986). Overall, it was seven times national champion in the 400m hurdles (1982-1986, 1988, 1991 ) and twice over 400 m (1985, 1986).

In 1986, she married her coach Phil King. The couple has two children.

At the Olympic Games in Sydney in 2000, she starred opposite Betty Cuthbert, Raelene Boyle, Shirley Strickland de la Hunty, Dawn Fraser and Shane Gould one of six outstanding women of the Australian sporting history who carried the torch with the Olympic Flame through the round of the Olympic Stadium, before Cathy Freeman lit the flame.
