Background

The departure of Kevin Godley and Lol Creme 1976 would almost have been the end for 10cc. But Eric Stewart and Graham Gouldman continued the success of the band with the help of drummer Paul Burgess. All songs on the album were written by Eric Stewart and Graham Gouldman. The cover design was designed by Hipgnosis again.

Reception

Criticism

Wrote Donald A. Guarisco of Allmusic, the only time when the Deceptive Bends was not enough, was afflicted with the lengths Medley Feel the Benefit. The album was " the finest achievement of 10cc 's post - Godley and Creme lineup ," the best of the post- Godley and Creme era. He forgave four out of five stars.

Chart success

The album reached # 2 on the LP charts in the UK. In the U.S., the album debuted at number 31 on the Billboard LP charts.

The title Good Morning Judge was coupled out of the album. The single reached # 5 on the UK singles charts in the U.S. only place 69
