Dennis Rodman

Dennis Keith Rodman ( born May 13, 1961 in Trenton, New Jersey ) is a retired American professional basketball player. Between 1986 and 2000 he played in the U.S. professional league NBA for the Detroit Pistons ( 1986-93 ), the San Antonio Spurs ( 1993-95 ), the Chicago Bulls ( 1995-98 ), the Los Angeles Lakers (1998 /99) and the Dallas Mavericks (1999 /2000). Rodman led the NBA seven times as the best rebounder and has been honored twice with the NBA Defensive Player of the Year Award. He also participated twice at the NBA All- Star Game. Dennis Rodman was a total of five times NBA champion, twice with the Detroit Pistons and three times with the Chicago Bulls. He is considered one of the best defenders and rebounders in the NBA history. The 2.01 meter tall Rodman played in the position of power forward.

Life

Dennis Rodman was born in New Jersey, but grew up in South Oak Cliff, a suburb of Dallas, Texas. His mother Shirley Rodman pulled him and his two younger sisters alone, after his father left the family shortly after his birth.

Rodman played from 1986 to 1993 at the Detroit Pistons. The team was known for their excellent defense and their rough play. With the Pistons he won the 1989 and 1990 NBA Championship. On 1 April 2011 the Pistons held at halftime of a game against the Chicago Bulls to honor Rodman over a ceremony. Since that day, his jersey number is no longer assigned when the Pistons.

In 1993, Rodman to the San Antonio Spurs and the 1995/1996 season a success team Chicago Bulls to Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen. Reinforced with Dennis Rodman wrote the Chicago Bulls NBA history. As the first team in the league, the team won by Jordan in 1995/96 over 70 games in the regular season and eventually the championship. With 72 victories against 10 defeats keep the Bulls until today the NBA record for most wins in a season. In the following two years, the Bulls were able to defend the championship successfully.

Rodman contributed as the best rebounder in the league, due to its very good defensive performance and his willingness to fight for its share of the outstanding team performance of basketball players from Chicago. He was regarded as a bad boy of the NBA, as he repeatedly by very loutish behavior and insults - drew attention to himself - on and off the basketball court. He was seven times champion rebound and scored a career average of 13.1 rebounds per game. From 14 November 1998 through April 6, 1999 he was married to his second marriage to actress Carmen Electra. From 2003 to 2012, he was married to Michelle Moyer, with whom he has two children together.

On 1 April 2011 declared the Detroit Pistons, is no longer to be awarded in honor of Rodman whose jersey number 10 in the future players of the team. On this occasion, Rodman's jersey was hung in a special ceremony during halftime of the game the Pistons against the Chicago Bulls on the same day symbolic of the porch ceiling of the Pistons. Rodman himself was present at the ceremony. On April 4, 2011 Rodman was recorded with, among others, Chris Mullin into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame.

End of February 2013 Rodman visited North Korea. There he met the dictator Kim Jong -un, the Rodman called a friend for life. Rodman was later accused of being dealt in view of the tense situation irresponsible with the visit and have not dealt with the political background. In the same year he went for the second time to North Korea to visit Kim Jong-un.
