Derek Edwardson
Derek Charles Edwardson ( born August 26, 1981 in Morton Grove, Illinois ) is an Italian- American ice hockey player who is under contract with SG Cortina in the Serie A1 since 2012.
Career
Derek Edwardson began his career as a hockey player with the Danville Wings, which until 2000 he was active from 1998 in the junior league North American Hockey League. Then he attended for four years, the Miami University, for their hockey team he played in parallel in the Central Collegiate Hockey Association. In his final year at the university he was voted player of the year, the CCHA. In the season 2004/ 05 the Centre made his debut in professional hockey for the Atlantic City Boardwalk Bullies of the ECHL. In parallel, he completed a total of five games for the Grand Rapids Griffins and Bridgeport Sound Tigers of the American Hockey League. From 2005 to 2007, he ran on a regular basis for the ECHL team Las Vegas Wranglers. In parallel, he also came to operations for the AHL participants Portland Pirates and Milwaukee Admirals.
From 2007 to 2009 Edwardson played for the Heilbronner Falken in the 2nd Hockey League. He then spent two years at SHC Fassa also from the Italian Serie A1. For the season 2011/12 Italian-Americans moved within the Serie A1 for HC Bolzano, with whom he immediately won the Italian championship at season's end. Plan for the next season he was obliged by league rivals SG Cortina.
Internationally
For Italy Edwardson took part in the A World Championship in 2012.
