Deutsche Bank Players Championship of Europe

The German Bank Players Championship of Europe until 2007 was a golf tournament that took place one week instead of once a year after the Open Championship and in the context of the Tournament Players Championship PGA European Tour European Championship of professional Gulf was performed. After the Open de France, it was considered the most important golf tournament on the European continent. The winner earned a five-year eligibility to play on the European Tour.

History

The event was held for the first time in 1992 under the name Honda Open, received in 1995 the additional designation Tournament Players ' Championship (short TPC of Europe) and ran until 1997 as a German Bank Open TPC of Europe. From 1998 to 2004 the tournament was called German Bank - SAP Open TPC of Europe. 2004 SAP withdrew as title sponsor, followed in 2007 by the German bank. With € 3.6 million last the competition was one of the highly doped tournaments of the tour and was surpassed on the European mainland only by the Open de France ( € 4 million).

Venues

The tournament was held at Gut Kaden Golf and Country Club in Alveslohe near Hamburg. Originally changed the venue until the withdrawal of the title sponsor SAP every two years with the Golf Club St. Leon-Rot near Heidelberg.
