Develop (magazine)

Develop is a published eleven times a year journal of the British publisher Intent Media for the computer game industry. The magazine is published in print and digital form, the editorial office is located in Hertford, Hertfordshire.

Description

The magazine first appeared in 1996 in Blenheim Publishing Business Publications under the title Development: The newsletter for producers, designers, and publishers of interactive entertainment. Since 2000, the magazine is published by Intent Media. It is mainly aimed at video game developer and is open to contributions of all those who work in the computer gaming sector. It describes itself as "the only magazine written by, for and about games developers" ( German: " the only gaming magazine that is written by, for and about games developer "). In March 2007, the publisher presented a large-scale redesign of the magazine. In addition, operates the magazine since July 2007, first under developmag.com, later develop -online.net, an accompanying online portal. As of August 2013 the portal has a monthly average over 320,000 unique visits and a little less than 600,000 page views.

Other activities

Develop 100 is a list issued annually by the magazine ranking for game developers. It evaluates the most important game developer based on a variety of criteria, including sales data, critics opinions and state of the company within the industry.

Since 2006, the magazine in Brighton organizes the annual conference The Develop Conference.

Develop Industry Excellence Awards

Every year in July aligns the magazine, the Develop Industry Excellence Awards, where innovative computer games, developer and service provider will be honored in several categories.
