Dinhard

Dinhard is a municipality in the district of Winterthur in the canton of Zurich in Switzerland.

Geography

The community consists of various localities: Eschlikon, Welsikon, Front - Gruet, off - Dinhard, Riedmühle and Kirch Dinhard.

From the community area are 69.8 % agriculture, 19.7% is covered by forest, 3.9 % is traffic area and 6.2% urban area and 0.4 % are waters.

History

1934, the village of Sulz was separated from Dinhard and assigned to the Rickenbach ZH.

In a grave mound in the Riedmühle an urn from the Hallstatt period in 1943 was recovered. It is the oldest evidence of human presence in Dinhard.

Dinhard first mentioned as Thynhart in 1275 in a document. From Dinhard came the eminent humanist Jacob Wiesendanger, called Ceporinus (1499-1525), to a memorial stone at the church.

The SVP has 46.1%, SP 16.0%, FDP 12.2%, Green 9.5 %, the CVP 3.3%, and the EPP 5.2% of the vote. Mayor Peter Matzinger (2009).
