Altikon
Altikon ( in local dialect Altike [ ɑltikχə ] ) is a village and a municipality in the district of Winterthur in the canton of Zurich. To Altikon include the hamlet Snow, Feldi and Herten.

The coat of arms dates back to the family coat of arms of Kyburg ministeriales Altikon to 1243, white wings downward in the black box. With the acquisition of the Canton of Zurich upper bailiwick 1696 the colors and direction were reversed. The council determined on April 18, 1928 this as the official coat of arms.
Geography
The Winelands Municipality Altikon is located north of Winterthur in the Thur Valley. 20 % of the municipal area is covered by forest and about 70 % are agricultural land.

History
As an indication of origin of the place name appears in copies of documents from the years 1122 Werner von Altinchoven ' and 1243 E. de Alticon, in original documents from 1244 ( Cůnrado de Altrinchoven ) / 1246 Berchtoldus miles de Altlinkon. It is a composition of a Zugehörikeitssuffix to the "-ing " extended Old High German personal name with the basic words and hof means about in the courtyards of the clan of Altilo '.
The Zurich city acquired in 1452 the first Austrian fief of the castle, and later by the Counts of Lupfen the court rule on Altikon and transferred in 1696 to manage a Obervogt.
At times (from 1604) was Altikon. Court under rule of the Im Thurn Benedict in Thurn acquired in 1615 Altikon of his brother, the court, Mr Joachim in Thurn. Previously, he bought back his share of the silk industrialist David Werdmüller ( 1548-1612 ). In 1618, he sold the castle and court Altikon to Count Maximilian von Pappenheim and Stühlingen for 17,000 guilders. After 1641 operated the court Lord, the mayor of Zurich Salomon Hirzel, and his sons in Altikon a cotton manufactory.
