Dokimasia Painter

Dokimasia Painter is the Notname an Attic red-figure vase - painter who worked around 485-465 BC.

The Dokimasia - painter was a young member of a workshop, in the shells of the potter Brygos were painted. John D. Beazley gave him the Notnamen after a Namenvase on which the horses are checked by ephebes ( Dokimasia ). Although he seemed to be specialized in the painting of shells, were attributed to him as later work also paintings on other vase shapes, including stamnoi, calyx craters and Kalathoi. His subjects were next to the Dokimasia about Hoplitodromos, symposium, Komo or teaching scenes, in addition he painted scenes from Greek mythology, such as from the legends of the heroes Heracles and Theseus or the singer Orpheus.
