Dolná Lehota

Dolna Lehota ( until 1927 slovak " Dolna LEHOTA "; Hungarian Alsószabadi - to 1907 Alsólehota ) is a town in central Slovakia with 786 inhabitants (as at 31 December 2011), the Region belongs to Okres Brezno, a circle of Banskobystrický and traditional landscape Horehronie is counted.

Geography

The municipality is located on the southern slope of the central part of the Low Tatras am Bach Vajskovský creek in the catchment area of the Hron. At the bottom of the south, the landscape is in the valley landscape Horehronské about podolie, in the north the territory extends over the valley Vajskovská valley up to the main ridge of the Low Tatras, with Mount Dereše (2004 m nm) as highest point. This Dolna Lehota has a share in the Low Tatras National Park. The center is located at an altitude of 480 m nm and is 15 kilometers from Brezno and 36 km from Banska Bystrica.

The municipality of Dolna Lehota borders Lazisko and Demänovská Dolina over the main ridge to the north, Horna Lehota in the east, in the southeast Valaská, Podbrezová in the south and Predajná and Jasenie in the West.

History

The town was founded in 1358 by Petrík, the long-term Erbvogt of Predajná on the territory of the castle Liptsch. Therefore, the village was for more than 100 years of its name, such as Petwrlehota ( 1424), Lehota Petri ( 1455 ) and Petrik Lehathaya ( 1464 ), then changed the name to Inferior Lehotha ( 1528) and Lehotka ( 1536). 1828 were counted 109 houses and 901 inhabitants, who were employed in agriculture, sheep and cattle and as carters and lace makers. End of the 19th century began with the promotion of antimony ores were processed primarily in the neighboring Vajsková.

Until 1918, belonged to the lying in the county Sohl place the Kingdom of Hungary and came after Czechoslovakia or Slovakia today. 1956 occurred in valley Vajskovská dolina a tragedy when a large avalanche, 16 people, all forestry workers, among them buried.

Population

According to the 2011 census lived in Horna Lehota 784 inhabitants, of whom 741 Slovaks, 15 Roma and two Czechs. 26 inhabitants did not respond. 542 residents pleaded with the Roman Catholic Church, the Evangelical Church AB 44 inhabitants and a population of Greek- Catholic Church. 104 inhabitants were non-denominational and 93 inhabitants, the denomination is not determined.
