Dolní Lomná

Dolni Lomná ( German Lower Lomna, Polish lomna Dolna ) is a municipality with 844 (1 January 2012 ) inhabitants in the Moravian-Silesian Region kraj (Czech Republic).

Location

The village, with 2,703 hectares located in the valley of the Moravian- Silesian Beskids on the banks of the river Lomná. From all sides it is bounded by wooded slopes to the north by the broad ridge of Kozubová on the south by Skalka and Velky Polom. Of the 871 residents, the Polish minority here the majority. 14 km north is the city Třinec, 23 km north then Český Těšín, 25 km west Frýdlant nad Ostravicí and 30 km northwest Frýdek- Místek.

History

1661 Lomna settlement was first mentioned. Lomna himself was one of the youngest settlements on the Teschen area. The first inhabitants were pastoralists. After increased immigration and the flourishing of animal husbandry and agriculture, a law for the protection of the forest has already been adopted in 1756, with the spreading deforestation was stopped. At the beginning of the 19th century, with increasing industrialization, Teschen chamber broke up more and more Salaschen ( salaš ) and established workers' settlements. In place of the former Walden created 31 single houses, which Teschen chamber allotted agricultural and grazing land. For each colonist was obliged to process all year round wood for the chamber. Only in the 1830s the colonists were given their own rights to their property. With the wood processing and the craft of carters, which was one of the main sources of income to the 2nd World War was born. 1830 was founded the first private school in town and education until 1852 supplemented by a public school. On 12 June 1896, the first church was consecrated in the center of Oberlomna.

Dolni Lomná with Horni Lomná including the working class neighborhood Přelače formed until 1899 a common village Lomna.
