Dominic Lavoie

Joseph Gilles Dominic Lavoie ( born November 21, 1967 in Montreal, Quebec ) is a former Austrian- Canadian ice hockey player (defender), who from 1988 to 2004 for the St. Louis Blues, Ottawa Senators, Boston Bruins and Los Angeles Kings in the National Hockey League and the Hannover Scorpions played in the Deutsche Eishockey Liga and the VEU Feldkirch in the Austrian Hockey League.

Career

Dominic Lavoie began his career as a hockey player with the Saint -Jean Castors for which, by 1987, he was active from 1984 in the Canadian top junior league Quebec Major Junior Hockey League. He then got a contract with the Peoria Rivermen, for which he ran aground the next five years in the International Hockey League, where he graduated in parallel also some games for their cooperation partners from the National Hockey League, the St. Louis Blues. With the Rivermen in the 1990/91 season, he managed to win the Turner Cup. During the 1992/93 season the defender stood for both the Ottawa Senators and the Boston Bruins in the NHL on the ice. The majority of the playing time he spent, however, in their farm team of the American Hockey League, the New Haven Senators and Providence Reds.

After a year with the Los Angeles Kings of the NHL and the Phoenix Roadrunners and San Diego Gulls in the IHL, the Canadians went in the summer of 1994 to Austria, where he was awarded a contract with the VEU Feldkirch, with which he then 1996, 1997, 1998 and 1999, four times in a row the Alps League won. In addition, he was with Feldkirch 1995-1998 also four times Austrian Champion. Lavoie, who was elected to the Alpine League All-Star team in 1997, was able to recommend his services in Austria for a contract in the DEL with the Hannover Scorpions, for which he spent three years active from 1999 to 2002. Then he returned to Feldkirch, where he finished his career in 2004. In December 2010 he returned again for three games for VEU Feldkirch and scored two goals.

Internationally

For Austria Lavoie took part in the World Championships in 1999, 2000, 2001 and 2002. In addition, he was in the squad of Austria at the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City.
