Dudhwa-Nationalpark

The Dudhwa National Park is located in the northern Indian state of Uttar Pradesh on the border with Nepal. It covers an area of ​​approximately 490 square kilometers. Thanks to the efforts of former Indian Prime Minister Indira Gandhi and the famous conservationist Billy Arjan Singh, the area was placed under protection in 1977 and was awarded National Park status. It is famous for its large holdings of Dudwha Lowland Barasinghas (over 1600) and tigers (98 in 1995). Since 1984, Indian rhinoceros from other areas were resettled. From the neighboring Bardia National Park hiking occasionally over some elephants. Other large mammals include Indian leopards, Asiatic black bears, sambar deer, Axishirsche, wild boar, barking deer, rhesus macaques and Hanuman langurs.
